Tasmania’s oldest known commercial vineyard was established by Jean Miguet in 1956 at La Province (known today as Providence) near Lalla, is 6 km as the ‘crow flies’ to the East. Grapes were also grown experimentally from the mid 1800’s at Windermere/Gravelly Beach (12 kms from “Dalen”) with Pipers Brook and Dalrymple vineyards located 20kms away to the north.

“Dalen” is sited within a private setting (no through road) a 20 minute drive from the northern suburbs (University, Maritime College, secondary schools) of Launceston. Lilydale, which has the local Primary and High school, is only a 10-minute bus ride away.
